Dashboard Share-Edit

  • By using this document user will know how to share any dashboard to the another user, with providing the edit rights.

  • Owner of the dashboard can provide edit access to specific users using edit option available in sharing the dashboard.

Objective​

  • To Share the Dashboard

Prerequisites​

  • For this example we are using the sales.ds dataset file.

Download dashboard.zip file from link given Click Here

  • After downloading the zip file, open dashboard_usecase folder inside it & upload sales.ds into Master data --> Dataset Section of the OPNBI. To add it into OPNBI follow this Click Here.

Steps to Share the Dashboard​

  1. Follow this link & reach out to the Grid View of the Dashboard.

  2. Click on any dashboard, which you want to share with another user. For this example; we will select Test Dashboard.

  3. Right click on Test Dashboard & click on share Docusaurus Slash Introduction option as shown below:

  4. One dialog box will open as shown below:

  • When you are sharing dashboard first time, there is no users displayed in selected user section. to share with specific user, select that user from user list on the left hand section and change visibility to internal or public.

  1. Select the user with you want to share the dashboard & select visiblity type for it, as required.

  2. For this example; we will share dashboard to Demo & NewDemo user & keep visiblity type internal.

  3. You can see on the top right corner, there is description added in blue font which mention 'To Edit - Click Checkbox'.

  4. We will chck the checkbox right next to Demo user, it means Demo user can edit the dashboard & NewDemo user can only preview the dashboard.

  5. To provide edit access, just mark this checkbox right next to user's name.

  6. Click on Share button Docusaurus Slash Introduction & your dashboard is shared with selected user & given rights to them.

  7. When Demo user will login with their credentials & search for Test Dashboard file, they can see the edit option available there.

  • Any changes made by this shared user will be reflected in admin users login. Shared user can not use his own Dataset to create or change widgets. he just be able to mnipulate dashboard with dataset used by Owner user.
